About This Location
From farm to cup, this locally owned coffee shop is here to give you the freshest brew possible. How fresh? Well, once you've had coffee from Little Nicaragua Coffee Company, you'll know just how fresh coffee can get. Mario and Pablo Úbeda - parents to co-owners Nora and David Úbeda, were born and raised in Nicaragua during political unrest. With $20 to their name in 1988, they came to Canada as refugees in search of a peaceful life. Lethbridge gave them that opportunity to grow and raise a family in harmony. Maria comes from a long family history of coffee farming in Nicaragua, and Pablos' father was a coffee and agricultural engineer. Both grew up around coffee plantations in the mountains, which have inspired their business. The coffee sourced is using their farm, lovingly called Finca Escambray. It has been in the family for generations, and in 2009, they reinvested in the farm to rejuvenate the coffee plantation.
